2 for 2!!!
The 14u Hurricanes capped off an unbeaten weekend in Fargo with a 7-1 win over the Northern Wings at the Lamoreaux Cup. The girls will now rest and regroup for the final tournament of not only the 2023 spring season but the final tournament of the Hurricanes spring hockey franchise.
The first tournament of the season saw the Hurricanes go 6 & 0, walking away with the Gold Medal. The championship was solidified with a solid team effort in the final vs the Saskatchewan Rebels.

2023 MB Hurricanes Information
The '09 Canes will return for their 5th spring season in 2023. Our schedule will look similar to last season, with the understanding that many of our players may be invited to participate in the Hockey Manitoba u16 Program of Excellence. The updated schedule includes the Play Hockey Early Bird, The Lamoureux Cup in Fargo and the NAHC.
The goal of the Hurricanes is to develop and grow together over a number of spring seasons with the hopes of graduating our players to the POE and eventually AAA / Prep. As minor age u15's, our '09's are one step closer to that goal and reality.
THANK YOU!!
CHAMPIONS
The 2022 Canes spring season has come to a successful conclusion. 26 games (18-6-2), 5 tournaments & 15 practices.
After a slow start to the NAHC, with the help of "retro Canes spirit & some "Rose Coloured Glasses", the '09 girls dug deep and "checked all the boxes" as they turned a 3rd seed into a first place gold medal. Sunday started with a hard fought 3-1 8am win vs BC Prep, revenging the 06 Canes defeat at the hands of the elder BC Prep in the 2019 NAHC. This year's Canes completed the memorable run with a 3-2 Gold Medal win vs the previously undefeated Sask Grrrowl. The Grrrowl had beaten the Canes 6-1 in a lack luster affair on Friday, but the girls won the one that counts. The Hurricanes were lead in the final by a Gina Plett 48 save performance. This win capped off a Hurricane of a 8 week stretch that included 3 gold medal tournament wins.
'Canes Come up Short.
This past weekend marked the return of a Hurricanes May Long tradition. The '09 'Canes were in Minneapolis for the AAA
Independent Classic. The last time #CanesFamily visited Minni, the '06's brought home gold and the '09's were silver medalists, however, this weekend, the girls fell 2-1 in the Bronze Medal game, to Tommy Chicago. The 'Canes weekend record was 3 & 2. They'll now look to regroup and get ready for the final weekend of the spring season and the North American Hockey Classic in Winnipeg.
Champions!
Their was a 5% chance of a tornado in Brandon this weekend, but a 100% chance of a Hurricane. The 'Canes capped off a 5 win championship with a 7-2 triumph over the Southwest Storm.
Early Bird Final Cancelled
After trying to find a common date that works, unfortunately there won't be a final to the Early Bird Classic. The North Stars are no longer skating
and on to other sports. So who wins? No clue.
AGC Silver
Not what we were hoping for, but as a first weekend tournament, Silver will do. Lots was learned and lots to
work on. Few practices this week and next before the Canes are back at it for the NAHC Early Bird April 21-24.
We're Back, Lets Go!!!
When the '09 Hurricanes stepped off the ice in May 2019, having concluded their run at the North American Classic 10u ('09) Division title, falling short to...
AWESOME!
We're Happy & Fortunate to have Coach Karli back for her 5th 'Canes SZN.
